Rapid price moves can close a leveraged position sooner than planned.
We score FBS against five hard tests - who regulates the entity you actually sign with, what leverage and margin the account carries, what the money costs to move in and out, whether the platform holds up under real order flow, and how the firm behaves when something goes wrong. For Indian residents, FBS lands mid-table on two of those and poorly on one, and the reason is structural rather than a matter of opinion.
Most reviews of FBS for an Indian audience stop at the sign-up bonus. We do not score bonuses at all. A 100% deposit bonus changes position sizing behaviour, and position sizing is what decides whether an account survives a normal losing streak. So we treat promotions as a risk variable, not a benefit.
Our Five Scoring Tests
We run the same checklist on every broker, and we run it in the same order. Regulatory status first, because it determines what recourse exists if the firm fails. Then cost per round turn, then execution quality, then funding mechanics, then support responsiveness.
| Test | What we check | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Regulation | Entity name, licence, what it covers | Highest |
| Leverage and margin | Maximum offered vs regional norm | High |
| Cost per round turn | Spread plus commission on a 1-lot EURUSD | High |
| Funding | Deposit and withdrawal rails, currency, fees | Medium |
| Platform and support | Order types, uptime, response time | Medium |
The weighting is deliberate. A broker can be cheap, fast and friendly and still be the wrong choice if the entity holding your money is outside any supervisor you can complain to. That single fact outranks everything else on the list.
How FBS Scores On Regulation
FBS is not SEBI-registered and does not hold an RBI authorisation. Indian clients are onboarded through the offshore entity FBS Markets Inc., registered in Belize under FSC/IFSC supervision. That is the licence that governs an Indian account, according to FBS's own documentation and the regulator registries we check at review time.

What Belize supervision does not cover matters more than what it does. There is no local dispute mechanism, no Indian ombudsman route, and no compensation scheme that would apply to a resident of India. By comparison, entities supervised by FCA, CySEC or ASIC typically sit inside a compensation framework and a formal complaints process. That difference is not academic when a withdrawal stalls.
Under RBI and FEMA rules, trading spot forex or CFDs with an offshore broker is not permitted for Indian residents, and remitting funds abroad for margin forex trading is not a permitted LRS end-use. The RBI also publishes an Alert List of unauthorised forex platforms; as of the 19 November 2025 update it totalled 95 entities, and the RBI states that list is not exhaustive. We verify entities against SEBI and RBI registries as part of every review, and FBS does not appear on either as an authorised local provider.
That is the honest context. It is one input into the decision, not the whole of it. The practical question is what protection you are giving up by choosing an offshore venue, and whether the terms compensate for it.
Leverage: Where The Numbers Get Loud
FBS advertises leverage up to 1:3000 on offshore accounts. Domestic exchange-traded INR currency derivatives run on SPAN plus exposure margin, roughly 3% to 5% of notional, which works out near 20x to 30x. The gap between those two figures is the single largest risk differential on this page.
Here is what it means on a real account. On a Standard account with a USD 500 deposit at 1:3000, a single 0.50 lot EURUSD position uses about USD 17 of margin. That is not a comfortable position - it is a position where a 33-pip adverse move erases the entire account. At 30x, the same 0.50 lot would require roughly USD 1,670 in margin, which the account could not open at all.
| Leverage | Margin on 0.50 lot EURUSD | Move that wipes a USD 500 account |
|---|---|---|
| 1:3000 | ~USD 17 | ~33 pips |
| 1:500 | ~USD 100 | ~200 pips |
| 1:100 | ~USD 500 | ~1,000 pips |
| 1:30 | ~USD 1,670 | Not openable |
Read that table as a survival map, not a sales sheet. High leverage does not increase your expected return; it increases the speed at which a normal drawdown becomes terminal. The industry standard among tier-one regulated brokers sits between 1:30 and 1:200 for retail clients, and those caps exist because supervisors watched the same arithmetic play out across thousands of accounts.
Cost Structure Compared
FBS pricing is competitive at the entry level but not exceptional. Standard spreads start from 0.7 pip with no commission; ECN accounts start from 0.0 pip plus a commission per lot. Most brokers in this segment quote 0.8 to 1.2 pips on EURUSD for a standard account, so 0.7 is at or slightly better than the general standard.
| Account | Spread | Commission | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cent | From 0.7 pip | None | First live account, micro sizing |
| Standard | From 0.7 pip | None | Swing trading, low trade count |
| ECN/ECO | From 0.0 pip | Per lot | High-frequency, tight targets |
| Zero Spread | Near zero | Per lot | Scalping |
| Crypto | Varies by pair | None stated | Crypto CFD exposure |
The calculation that matters is cost per round turn. A 0.7-pip standard spread on one standard lot of EURUSD is roughly USD 7 to enter and exit. An ECN account at 0.1 pip plus a USD 6 commission round turn costs about USD 7 as well. The two structures converge near a certain trade size, and which one wins depends on your average holding period more than anything else.
Swap-free accounts are available on Cent and Standard. For traders observing Sharia principles, that removes the overnight financing charge, though a wider spread often replaces it. In India, swap-free demand is real but niche compared with the Gulf, and that is a fair description at review time.
What We Check Before Anything Else
Funding mechanics decide whether a strategy is even viable, and this is the section most reviews skip. FBS accepts cards, wire transfers and e-wallets. UPI availability was not verified at our review, and that matters specifically for Indian clients, because UPI is the near-instant local rail most residents use daily.
Base currency is USD or EUR. No INR accounts were verified. That means every deposit and withdrawal carries a conversion step, and the spread on that conversion is a real cost that never appears in a spread table.
| Item | FBS detail |
|---|---|
| Minimum deposit | From USD 5 (Cent), ~USD 100 (Standard) |
| Base currency | USD or EUR, no INR verified |
| Local rails | Cards, wire, e-wallets; UPI not verified |
| Swap-free | Yes, on Cent and Standard |
The absence of INR settlement is the practical friction. Exchange-traded currency derivatives in India settle in INR with no conversion, and that comparison is worth holding in mind when you total the true cost of an offshore account.
If local currency handling, a clearly named tier-one regulator, and a conversion-free funding path rank above raw leverage for you, a broker supervised by FCA, CySEC or ASIC and offering INR-friendly funding is the more defensible choice. That is a question of fit, not of judging anyone. What matters is that the decision is made on those criteria rather than on the deposit bonus.
What To Watch Out For
None of the following is a reason to walk away on its own. Each is a variable that changes what an account costs you.
- Bonus terms. The 100% deposit bonus and per-lot cashback are tied to volume conditions. Traders who take a bonus frequently increase average position size to unlock it, which is the opposite of what a risk plan calls for.
- Conversion drag. USD and EUR base currency means every rupee deposit and withdrawal passes through FX. On frequent transfers, this adds up faster than spread.
- Withdrawal timing. Offshore brokers vary widely on payout processing. We test this at review and it is one of the most common sources of complaints across the category.
- Regulatory exposure under FEMA. Remitting funds abroad for margin forex is not a permitted LRS purpose, and a 20% TCS applies on LRS remittances above Rs 10 lakh per financial year. The TCS is a credit against tax, not a fine, but it is a cash-flow cost.
- Tax reporting. Exchange-traded currency derivatives gains are generally treated as non-speculative business income at slab rates; speculative intraday losses can only be set off against speculative income. Residents must also declare worldwide income and foreign assets in Schedule FA.
Where The Line Sits
Reviewing a broker is not the same as recommending an account. Our job on this page is to make the trade-offs legible so you can size them.
Every leverage figure above describes a decision about survival. A 1:3000 account does not fail because the market moved against it; it fails because the position was sized as though the stop distance did not exist. That is the boundary of sensible risk, and it sits far below the maximum a platform will let you open. Whatever broker you choose, the leverage cap, the funding currency and the name on the licence are the three numbers that decide what happens when a trade goes wrong.
| Method | Deposit arrives | Withdrawal takes |
|---|---|---|
| Cards | instant | 2-5 business days |
| Wire | 1-3 business days | 3-5 business days |
| E-wallets | instant | within 24 hours |
Use It If
You want micro-sized entries from as little as USD 5 through Cent accounts, you are comfortable with MT4 or MT5, and you intend to keep leverage well below the advertised maximum with stops sized from equity rather than from available margin. FBS's account range and platform support are adequate for that use case, and the swap-free option on Cent and Standard is a genuine feature rather than a marketing line.

Look Elsewhere If
You want your account supervised by FCA, CySEC or ASIC with a formal complaints route, or you need INR funding without a conversion step on every transfer. Traders whose main instruments are INR currency pairs, or who want INR settlement at the exchange level, are structurally better served elsewhere. That is a fit question, and answering it honestly costs nothing.
Questions
Is FBS regulated in India?
No. FBS is not SEBI-registered and holds no RBI authorisation. Indian clients are onboarded via the offshore Belize entity FBS Markets Inc., regulated under FSC/IFSC. Verify any broker's status directly at sebi.gov.in and rbi.org.in before funding.
What leverage does FBS offer Indian clients?
Up to 1:3000 on offshore accounts. For comparison, exchange-traded INR currency derivatives in India run on roughly 3% to 5% margin, about 20x to 30x. Higher leverage does not improve returns; it shortens the distance between a normal drawdown and a closed account.
Can I deposit in rupees through UPI?
No INR accounts were verified at our review, and UPI availability was not confirmed. FBS lists cards, wire and e-wallets, with USD or EUR as the base currency, so a conversion step applies. Any offshore broker advertising UPI deposits for spot forex sits outside the permitted framework.
What should I check before choosing any broker?
Four things. The exact legal entity and licence covering your account, the maximum leverage against your position sizing rules, the true cost per round turn including conversion, and whether the regulator publishes a complaints or compensation route you can actually use.
Does trading with FBS create a tax obligation in India?
Yes. Residents must declare worldwide income and foreign assets in Schedule FA, regardless of where the broker is registered. A 20% TCS also applies to LRS remittances above Rs 10 lakh per financial year, though it is credited against your final tax liability. Confirm specifics with the Income Tax Department at incometax.gov.in.
